Indeed nice shots - John M (Funderland marketing) was impressed with them to David!! :mr green

... exactly HOW powerful is your flash??!! :o

Only way I could get enough light in that hall was to do long exposure!
Yeah - was rather impressed with the roller ghoster! And of course the Schwarzkopf... which was using Cool & Fresh's paybox for some reason...??! :?

Not seen that style of Flying carpet before either 8)

long day, late back, v.tired & a busy couple of days ahead but will sort my pics & video soon!! :D

Glad you had a nice time Colin. John Magee is very nice and I'm pleased you managed to meet him.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures I'm very much looking forward to seeing yours.

I just have a standed flash on my camera but don't like to use it unless I really have to. What I tend to do is to turn the ISO right up and play around with the settings that way. Yes there is a trade off in picture quality but its going to be very rare that my pictures are printed 100% which is some stupid size like 3 feet by 1.5 feet or something, actually I think its bigger than that!

The Magic Carpet there were 2 versions of that built. It was either that one or the other one that did some fairs in England and Scotland in the 1980's I think. I can't remember it but was told it did SECC and Loughborough.

ISO!
I'll have to look into that! 8) :D

I have a feature for manual exposure, which allows me limited play with exposure time & lightness... I then usually fiddle about enhancing the light a la photoshop too!
Fairs aren't too bad, although it gets grainy, you usually have a night sky, so adding contrast reduces the grain, other than on the lit up bits!

Yeah - the other magic carpet attended the GMEX Vimto fairs in Manchester, it was a 4 legged one though!
I'm not sure if it isn't the one at M&Ds...? Also, 1 did a spell at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, & another at Alton... (which could well be the same, & I wouldn't be surprised if thats M&Ds one too!?!) - and there's Quantum at Thorpe :)

I hadn't visited Ireland before, was taking Ma & Pa to airport (flying to Egypt) early this am anyway, so thought I might as well hop on Ryan Airs £0.01 flights! 8) :D Which got me there early so I had chance to look around before Funderland.
Yes, John was very welcoming! Showed me a few of your pics, complimentary tickets..! :yay
staff were all really friendly - was quiet but a few riders - no-one was going on Frisbee though...? :?

Coaster was a nice ride of course! FANTASTIC to see it again! 8) :mr green :mr green
Had it to myself 1st couple of rides (its 1st of the day...) - loads of hang-time in the loop! :o 8) 8)

Up to its trademark Schwarzkopf G's (if only briefly by comparison with others) later on though! 8)
:coaster

Yeah - I'd definately go visit Funderland again! :great

Wow. Sounds like a horror/sci-fi scenario.

David, nice pics, and I nearly fell out of my chair (which is almost impossible) when I saw the Looping Star (Coaster). I am using the one aerial shot of it for my wallpaper right now on my comp, if that's alright sir.

Col: I was always under the impression that you get some killer Positive Gs in the loops on Anton loopers. But regardless, I envy you for having it to yourself.

Kev, Twist and Shout and Funderworld's Coaster are two different ones. Coaster is obviously a Looping Star (as I said in an earlier post) and TnS is a Silverarrow, both Schwarzkopfs which make them magnificent. :)

yeah, they are similar bcc - the Looping Star is slightly taller, but the silver arrow has quite a lot more 'helix'! :glasses

Just added some pics / vid :

Nice video Colin shame its not the conventional style trains as the locomotive train front gets in the way of the camera!

I always say the Silver Arrow is a more compact Looping Star but the design is based on the Dopple Looping layout.

Cork is the next stop on the tour for Shockwave around April \ May time.

David, I too am not a big fan of the new locomotive trains for the Looping Stars and the Silver Arrows. The original Schwarzkopf trains were just fine.

Speaking of the subject, do the other Looping Stars have the different styled track in the brake runs, or is it just this one? Another question, by chance does Mauher Solne use the same styled track as the Schwarzkopfs (I know they're in the old Schwarzkopf factory, unless I'm mistaking it for Gerstlauer), and if so, would they be able to do replacement tracks for them?
