I always find it looks really odd when tower rides have nothing on the top of the tower.
Other than that, not much else to say really...

I also find it strange that the actual tower rotates!

Official ride opening is this weekend, so it sounds as though this weekend just gone was a soft opening. Its also been confirmed on the parks new website that it will be in a new area called Primeval. Unknown if this will be a generic prehistoric theme or actually based on the TV series. 2012's park maps show the ride in Muddy Duck Farm, so I would presume that 2013 will see the building of the new Primeval area, along with a relocation / retheming of Wagon Wheels..?? I would also presume that the driving school attraction will be going unless Pterodactyl is going to be a one ride area. I would then imagine that 2014 will be a development on Corkscrews old site. EDIT: Re the Primeval area. Just to put this out there, that Flamingoland have been sponsoring the show on ITV this year

It just says "Unmissable new experience. Coming soon, Watch our website for details"
Whereas the site of the new ride said... "Awesome new ride due summer 2012"

I'm sure its quite stable... apparently Mission Space's entire tower spins, so as to keep the heavy motors at the bottom - if they were high up the structure would be less stable. But have no idea why some starflyers have spinning towers & others spin around the tower...? Copyright of the design maybe? But now there's loads of manufacturers with similar rides.

^ Most probably cost. This is a Zamperla ride, and they're usually quite cheap, so I'd imagine this is much cheaper than the rotating gondola.
And from what I've experienced so far, the rotating gondolas can be quite unreliable.

^ It also helps keep the weight down in the gondola as you don't need any of the spinning mechanisms on the gondola.

When I was new to Ukrides 5 years ago, I remember Starflyer being the 'new' ride at the time. It took a while but we did finally get our 1st ride of this type in early 2009 IIRC? 3 years down the line, we now have a few of them.

I was lucky enough to see and ride a Starflyer last year, but I certainly didn't end up facing backwards! Not sure I would have enjoyed that at that height! Did have this happen on a Waveswinger though which was surreal enough.
I actually think that these are very suitable for parks. Seems to be more of them at fairs at the moment and from what i've seen online they just don't "fit in" somehow. They can get away with short ride cycles at parks which would reduce the short queue line which was mentioned in the trip report topic.
In any case i'm sure Flamingoland will benefit from this. And it's better than nothing! Trust me I know the feeling where I live.
