Everything about KMG’S new ride concept is compact – the name, the set-up and the price.

Passengers on XLR8 (Accelerate) will experience high speed coupled with fast acceleration and deceleration, with speeds of up to 70km/h controllable by the ride operator. The attraction’s eight two-seater suspended cars flip from side to side during the ride, as the arms turn around the centre. The entire ride can come to a stop in just half a circuit.

“The extreme acceleration will give the passengers the feeling as if they are being launched or getting a ‘kick in the back’,” says KMG salesman Peter Theunisz. “Deceleration will give the riders the opposite effect!

Constructed on one semi-trailer, the travelling ride will feature a self-supporting folding platform and require an assembly time of just one-and-a-half hours. Designed for economically-challenged times, the attraction boasts a low purchase price, although a number of add-ons are available as extras.

XLR8 was officially unveiled to KMG customers at Euro Attractions Show in Rome at the beginning of October. Following enquiries from Scandinavia, the UK and the Netherlands, the first ride will be delivered in late August/early September 2011.

Thanks for the news, Time Warp. I'm thinking along the lines of Smashing Jump / Spider-Man here. Looks forceful too.

I'm sure once Technical Park have seen it they will have their version out before KMG's :rofl

Apparently KMG's new ride "Mission Space" is being unveiled at the IAAPA show in Orlando.

It's another variation of the tekno power, but yes I like it and if it can go just as fast should prove a hit.

hmm.... look at the way the cars are attached to the arms...
Image

- we can see the cars swing out, now if this ride decelerates quickly, wont those cars want to swing inwards?
But they can't...! :?

I'd give one a try, am sure the G forces will be quite strong. But meh, I think I'd prefer new rides to be kindda more creative than this!

Looks like it will apply the same sort of forces as an Enterprise without the lift.

I'd much prefer to see a travelling version of this similar ride from Zamperla.

KMG developed this ride to meet the demand for low overhead cost rides and low purchase price.
Each extra rotation, movement, technical adjustion, etcetera will lead to higher costs.

This ride will be in the same price range as a new KMG Miami or Swing It, which makes the XLR8 a justified investment in
those financial challenging times.

The new project named "Mision Space" will be unveiled in Orlando at the IAAPA Expo, which is a spectacular ride with more
techniques and movements, but will also be offered at a complete different price range.

It's all about the money boys and girls!

I'm liking the look of that, although I was paying more attention to the big wheel behind it. What the hell is that wheel?

It's a trick of the eye. There are actually two wheels, one's behind it making it look like the cars are inside of it. :D

he's pulling your leg BenG!
Thats the legendary Wonder Wheel at Coney Island...! there are a few stationary cars around the rim of the wheel, but most cars are on oval-shaped tracks! As the wheel rotates, the oval shaped track means the car slides to the middle of the wheel - its quite scary. I haven't rode this, but Disney replicated it & I HAVE been on that!

The Wonder Wheel at Coney Island is great fun. Unlike that XLR8 which looks like yet another generic spinny thing to me.

I thought it looked like a poor man's version of Mission Space @ Disney's Epcot

The only reason that Deno's Wonder Wheel might be considered scary, is that it's about 100 years old.

Thanks for explaining the Wonder Wheel Col! That, and the Disney replica are ones for me to try, plus I gotta hit the Disney parks anyway. Not while I'm working on £5.80/hour minimum wage though lol.
