So. Today
-we had the first UKrides takeover. On X No Way Out!
- Kev joined the ECC
- We phoned Tanky! And he thought Colwas a woman ( Cal,to be precise)
- I wussed out of all the mazes cos I'm scared of the dark
- We saw Stealth roll back twice
- Kev proclaimed every ride his best favourite ever
- We saw Saw
- We metCol's hunky new beau
-We left before the Stealth ERS during which Stealth broke down
- We met Kev's mum who is a total sweetheart and stepdad who is a top guy

Film to follow

I'm scared of the dark too, to phobic level. It only applies when it's dead silent though, so I don't know if it's applicable in mazes. I know I'm ok on a Ghost Train because you tend to hear noises in and outside of the ride.

Well ive just managed to get up out my pit,

we arrived home at about 12:45am, stupid M6 was closed through Stoke. :kickass :bash

i feel like ive done 33 rounds with Tyson in the dark.

Should we use this thread for all trip reports?

Ill post a full trip report later on today/tonite. It will be highlights of the day, otherwise i could write a 20 page thread on it, by myself.

New park, new rides, new CREDITS, new friends, joined the ECC. It could go on and on.

What a fantastic day and set of people. The bestest favourite day ever. :snigger

Watch this space, oh and X:\ RULES! :clap

YOU were the lucky ones... I got home at 03:10
But, at least we weren't piled-up between 3 lorries & on fire...
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/7681240.stm

But anyway: had a great day & a fab birthday! Many thanks for the cards, cake & chocs guys! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Twas indeed great fun, quick coffees / beers for starters, meet-up, ride Rush (walk-on).
backstage tour of Hellgate, ride Colossus, (30 min wait), nosey at Saw - coming on nicely, building will cover the indoor bit soon!
Onto rapids, inferno (15 mins wait for front) , detonator (walk- on), lunch, (non-special noodles in Canda Creek)!

And onto the mazes... we (the ECC) had priority access to The Curse, which was 'alright' as mazes go - themed as a ship, with ghost sailors (would have been better if they employed blokes for this maze, as opposed to the young girls - who neither scared us, nor were appropriate as 'sailors'!!).
Hellgate was good, interesting to see it as an attraction having seen it earlier with the lights on. Although I personally preferred the Freak Show maze they did here before changing it to Hellgate.
Seven was dissappointing this year... was pretty empty when we went though... there were loads of actors in there last year. the operating table was missing too for some reason... and with no-one in that room it was pretty crap! :|
Asylum was fun though - always better when accompanying novices through these things... I think I spent more time laughing at Linda than the actors!

Another ride on Inferno (walk-on), teacups (walk-on) & onto Stealth - (also a walk-on). It had started raining by this point though...
Riders on the outside seats of Inferno suffered very wet legs!! All the water drains off the covers of the axles, on the wheels of the car in front!
Stealth in the rain was fun... you get stung in the face by the rain at high speed if in the front car! But at least it was running & was a walk - on. 1st time I've rode it this season, and noticed it's vibrating quite a lot. Not unpleasantly, but noticably.
As it had been a walk - on, most of us (except Nick & Johnno) got several rides in. the rain was settling in by then, so we decided to leave early, regrettably leaving the ERS & not saying farewell. But we all left early in an attempt to get home earlier... an attempt which went horribly wrong! :disbelief :disbelief

Must express gratitude to Mark Riley of ECC for organising another great 'Ghouls & Ghoasters' trip to Thorpe.
(a pic of me was even on everyone's name badge too!)

Wow. I had no idea of this, no wonder it was closed. Very sad indeed. I've just seen it on the news, shocking. I just assumed it was closed for roadwork's to happen at night. I did try and call you Col to warn you but my phone had got so wet it wouldn't work. Johno knew a route around that junction, that would have taken you straight into Manchester, as your well traveled, we thought you would know another route. Sorry.

On a brighter note, here's my report. (sorry for long read again, just enjoy the pics if you don't want to read it all. It was a long day and so much happened that's worth a mention 8) )

Ride Count (Approx. count, as we did loads and lost count  )

Detonator - x3
Stealth - Lost count, maybe x4
Nemesis Inferno - x3
Colossus - x1
Rush - x2
X:\ Best Ride Ever :snigger - x1
Rapids - x1
Se7en - x1
Hellgate - x1 - plus a guided tour with lights on.
The Asylum - x1
The Curse - x1

I'd like to start by thanking everyone that attended, it made the day very special for us. You just can't beat a group visit. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, with a wicked sense of humour, which is what it's all about, made even more special by having a birthday boy among us. It was great to meet you all. :D 8)

I'd like to thank the ECC organizers too. For letting me join and a great insight into how they make these mazes. We too are sorry for not making the ERS for Stealth. Stealth was a walk on, so we re-rode it many times between 7pm and 8pm. We too left early to try and get home for midnight. :D 8)

Lets start with the mazes. I'm almost convinced my mum was targeted in all of them. My mum was the star attraction, everyone was too busy looking and laughing at her reactions. :rofl She was very nervous and terrified of these things, but I'm proud she went in. The best maze for me was Asylum and then The Curse, Hellgate wasn't all that bad either. Se7en was pretty poor. Fraser mentioned we timed it wrong, about 10 actors walked out as we walked in, shift change.  It was quite funny at the end of Se7en though, we couldn't find an exit door, we were caged in... So we all ended up walking round in circles in very tight room. :snigger They are all very well themed and the lighting effects, smoke, strobes, actors were perfect. 8) The actors were on the floor, in your face, above your head, everywhere! As Cal and I found out, we tried to walk past the actor and they kept shoving Cal backwards and would not let her past. :scared The actor then climbed up a wall and we had to go under their legs, that was quite creepy. Great fun, go and do them all if you can!

Rides & Reviews - this was the 1st time I'd ever been on these rides. There's no feeling quite like new rides and coasters and a park, this is what an enthusiast is all about. Not visiting the same 2 parks and knowing everything. Now I have another park to my list, your opinion on the rides you always ride, changes dramatically. :stare  8)

Shall we start the pictures off with some geek's? Ok then. :snigger

Cal and Col go to war in the queue of Colossus. Col lost. :kickass

Geek Alert :glasses

Detonator - Humpty Dumpty had a great fallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll. Well shit! :stare My 1st drop tower and I cant put into words how it felt. Let me put it this way, we got a ride in before the group arrived. My 1st ride I screamed my lungs out all the way down, which in turn made everyone point and laugh at me that was around the area.  I couldn't stop myself from screaming, I was expecting to drop, but not like that. It was amazing, the only time your in your seat is the accent. Just Oblivionesque I would say. Adam made me laugh on this too. I screamed again all the way down, Adam swore all the way down. We came to a halt he turns to me and says, I don't remember that happening. ROFL :hilarious

The famous Kev pose.
Image

Nemesis Inferno - Well wow again. Smoothieness awesomeness. 8) Fraser had a great idea of riding the front seat. My 1st ever ride on the front seat. In fact my 1st ever B&M front row seat ride. Just amazing, I loved this ride from start to finish, it now rivals Nemesis for me. 8) :mr green A front ride seat on Nemesis and I'll make my mind up which is better. I also rode it on the back row too, exactly the same without the view, perfect. Was funny in the rain as Col mentions all the water poured onto the outside rider, in this case Fraser & Nick. :hilarious

You can never get bored of taking pictures of these machines.

An Evac for good measure too.

Rapids - Always good fun in a group, Boat 13 and soaked. Great pic Col!

Rush - I've never seen anything like it before. I loved it, a cross between a pirate ship and the swings down your local park. We rode this twice in a row, great fun. Nick was the highlight on this one, hated every second and closed his eyes until we came to a complete stop. :hilarious

X:\ Best Ride Ever :snigger - Heard nothing but bad about this ride. Let me change your minds here. :nernyer For a 1st time rider I thought it was fantastic and different. The point of the ride is that there is no way out, backward helixes and stop and start, made it feel disorientating and there is no way out. A great ride, doesn't the deserve the bad press! ROFL :snigger  :kissmy

Colossus - It's a bit bangy in places, but enjoyable. The hang time through the inline twists is some of the best I've felt. 1 train operation lead to our biggest queue of the day.

Stealth - Easily my new number 1 coaster, :yay as much as I feel for Oblivion, for one, drop towers feel the same now, so really there's no contest. Walk on and in the dark as well, it was amazing. 8) The launch is fantastic, instant face lift. It's another ride I can't really explain, go and ride it! Highlights of this ride was doing anything possible to get a roll-back, wearing a parachute was mentioned. :wave We had seen this roll-back twice today. We crawled over one time and flew over the next, the views are second to none as well.

As fraser has mentioned we saw Saw, if you want a really good look at the back of the ride, look from Colossus' lift. 8)

Thanks for your time, hope you enjoyed it. Hope to see you all again soon. :D :glasses

TRUST ME- that one needed to be edited. It showed me unshaven, it showed my 20 year old chicken pox scars, it showed my tooth-gap and it showed my nose red from room odouriser...

No pictures should be edited off this topic. Especially, if it's only because you don't like it.
Do you honestly think that I like every picture of me on here? No, no I don't.
Put the picture back.
