It's been mentioned elsewhere on the forum about the ride being sold. However today M&D's came and took the ride down.

It's a shame, it's the only ride in the country left that made me nervous. I'm sure they have a suitable replacement lined up for the future. They have tried to get permission for a Fabbri Megadrop in the past and according to someone I know they are interested in the Speedwave Topscan that is also up for sale over in Hastings.

That's interesting. Whilst I would love the see the Topscan travel in this country I just can't see it sadly. Unlike Topbuzz2 which was modified with a smaller platform and backflash Speedwave is absolutely massive and requires an additional load to travel which makes it somewhat unattractive to UK showmen as that costs extra money.

Why would they need permission for a Drop Zone? Its a travelling ride....

Also, the Bomber or whatever it was called had been dismantled ages ago. It was all folded up when I was last there at the beginning of November.

I am a bit gutted about this tbh, I really wanted to get on it but it was closed the two times I was at Brighton last year.

The Bomber/Booster is usually packed up during the winter. It is now open again.

They need permission because on the pier it is classed as a permanent structure. The Booster and Air Diver needed permission.

The guys over at ValleyMania have seen that South Shields Ocean Park is opening up a ride called Air Diver with a description which fits the old Brighton Pier Air Diver

http://www.valleymania.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1503

Interestingly, looking at the parks website, its not under the wristband scheme, so sounds like M&D's are setting it up for the summer season and running it.
