The Grand National is a famous British annual horse race, run at
Aintree racecourse in Liverpool. It was taken as the theming for this 1935 classic wooden
racing coasterat Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The coaster uses a mobius loop, i.e. there is
actually only one continuous track, if you get one the left side of the station, you get
off on the right! Click the thumbnailed images to enlarge pics

The station of the Grand National was damaged by fire in May 2004.
Blackpool Pleasure Beach have stated they will rebuild the ride. being as most of the
track is located at the rear of the park, it was thankfully well away from the fire.
Poignant that these pics were taked 4 days before the fire...
Damage caused by the fire was thankfully limited to the station area of
the ride only... these pics taken during the cleanup / rebuild immediately after the fire,
show all thats left of the trainsis a few wheels and lapbar rails... Thanks to Keith for
the 1st pic...!
