Another Bollinger & Mabillard coaster that John Wardley collaborated with. Nemesis was the first of the new generation inverted coasters in the UK. As Alton Towers have a height restriction, in that they cannot build above tree height, this ride is mostly underground. The theme is an alien, rejected by other galaxies, that came to Earth to find its sanctuary. Nemesis lay beneath the earth at Alton Towers for centuries, untill disturbed by workmen. It was so furious that it thrashed in the ground, sending trees flying, formming the pit you see today. Then it was pinned down with steel, and now we ride it.
